Historically, the city is born from the meeting: the gathering of people, the exchange of goods and ideas, collective action, competition, or even war. From this point of view, the city is a public space from the beginning.

In Italo Calvino's novel Invisible Cities, Marco Polo travels to the cities of the vast Chinese Empire for the Chinese Emperor Kublai Khan. When his wanderings are over, he recounts his experiences to the great emperor. Polo, as a visitor, maps the multiple experiences of the inhabitants and, more importantly, the "wounds" of the cities. Are the cities he visited imaginary, or are they utopian versions of what he encountered?

"But what is the city for us today? I think I wrote something like a last love poem about cities, at a time when it is becoming increasingly difficult to live in them." — Italo Calvino

Following the reflection posed by the author, in the workshop "We Live in Space," we will attempt to walk in space and recreate it. Let us explore the space that is within and around us through the senses. Space is us, our home, our neighborhood, and our city. Space is memories, feelings, a smell, a sound, a photo, or a non-place we would like to inhabit.

Participants are advised to wear comfortable clothes and trainers as part of the workshop will involve walking.

Christina Gousi is a graduate of the Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy, and Psychology at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. The "germ" of the theatre led her to Theatre Epi Kolono, where she first experienced the contribution of theatrical techniques in education. A few years later, she completed her Master's degree in "Dramatic and Performing Arts in Education and Lifelong Learning" at the School of Fine Arts of the University of Peloponnese. During her postgraduate studies, she wrote her first fairy tale, built her first puppet theatre doll, and designed the teaching of the Iliad using theatrical techniques as part of her thesis. She then became a member of the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network and participated in a series of training seminars and activities. In 2020, she participated in the training program of LEARN INN EKPA, "Training in Team Encouragement and Empowerment," and continued with the program "Intercultural Education." In the 2019-2020 school year, she taught and facilitated theatre workshops for children and teenagers at the Drama School "Notos" in Heraklion, Crete. Since 2014, she has been involved in teaching courses while continually seeking opportunities to integrate theatre with education.
